Borough Guide
Staten Island is the bar pie borough.
That means thin, crisp pies cooked in a small round pan and built to go with a drink. You barely see the style across the harbor, but here it's everywhere. Port Richmond is the anchor, and most places lean toward sit-down, family-run rooms rather than counter slices. There are fewer pizzerias than in the other boroughs, but more of them are worth the ferry.
