The short version. NYC Pizza Map has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no cookies of its own. It does not sell or share your information with anybody for money.

You can use the whole site, including saving pizzerias, without giving an email address or creating anything. If you do sign in, the only things stored are your email address and the names of pizzerias you saved.

Your location never leaves your device.

Who runs this

NYC Pizza Map (pizzamap.nyc) is run by one person in Brooklyn, New York. For anything in this policy, including a request to delete your data, write to hello@pizzamap.nyc.

If you never sign in

You can browse every page, use the map, search, and mark pizzerias as visited or favorite without an account.

Those marks are saved in your own browser using local storage. They stay on that device, they are never sent anywhere, and nobody else can see them — not even me. Clearing your browser data deletes them, and they do not appear on your other devices.

If you sign in

Signing in is optional, and its only purpose is to carry your saved pizzerias between your devices. When you sign in, this is stored:

That is the entire list. No name, no phone number, no address, no payment details — the site takes no payments. Your password is never stored because there is no password: signing in works by a link sent to your email.

This data is held in a Postgres database run by Supabase, on servers in the United States. It is protected by row-level security, which means a request can only ever return rows belonging to the signed-in account.

Your location

“Find Pizza Near Me” asks your browser for your location, and your browser asks your permission first. You can refuse and the rest of the site works normally.

If you allow it, your coordinates are used inside your browser to sort pizzerias by distance and move the map. They are never transmitted to this site or to anyone else, and they are never stored. Close the tab and they are gone.

Companies that handle data on my behalf

Running a website means other companies necessarily see some information. Here is all of them and why:

WhoWhat they seeWhy
CloudflareYour IP address and browser, as standard server logsHosts the site and protects it from attacks
SupabaseYour email address and saved pizzerias — only if you sign inStores accounts and syncs your passport
ResendYour email address, when a sign-in link is sent to itDelivers the sign-in emails, so they come from pizzamap.nyc
CARTOYour IP address when map tiles loadSupplies the map background
Google FontsYour IP address when the page font loadsSupplies the typeface
unpkg, jsDelivrYour IP address when a script loadsDeliver the mapping and sign-in code
Google PlacesNothing about youSupplies pizzeria ratings and opening hours. Requests identify the pizzeria only, never the visitor
Web3FormsWhatever you type into the Suggest a Spot form, including your email if you give oneDelivers that form to me by email

Nobody on that list is paid to receive your data, and none of them are advertising companies acting on your behalf here.

What this site does not do

Deleting your data

If you have not signed in, clear your browser data and everything is gone. There is nothing on any server to delete.

If you have signed in, there is a Delete my account button on your passport page. It removes the account and every pizzeria saved to it immediately — the database is set up so one cannot outlive the other — and no one has to approve it. You can also email hello@pizzamap.nyc from the address you signed in with if you would rather, and I will do it within seven days.

How long things are kept

Your account and saved pizzerias are kept until you ask for them to be deleted. Server logs held by Cloudflare are kept for a short period under their own retention policy and are not used to build any profile of you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see what is held about you, correct it, have it deleted, or object to it being processed. In California you also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

Exercising any of them is the same one step: email hello@pizzamap.nyc. Given how little is stored — an email address and a list of pizzeria names — that request is easy to fulfil, and I will not ask you to justify it.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email me and I will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change ever means storing something genuinely new about you, I will say so plainly on the page rather than quietly editing a clause.
